Swanston Central Melbourne is a 72-level high-rise residential structure on the North of Melbourne’s Central Business District. The development will be a specifying project within Melbourne offered its extremely one-of-a-kind ‘L’ form and facade which must blend with adjoining heritage buildings. The predominant architectural difficulty for an L-shaped building as slim and tall as Swanston Central is the complex torsional (twisting) acceleration at the top of the building under wind loading. We conquered this potential velocity concern with our effective design solution for the structure in combination with close partnership with the wind expert. The result of this procedure was that additional tuned mass damping was not required, in turn increasing net salable location for the structure.

The approved development scheme allows for approximately 1,039 apartments including a mix of one, two and three bedrooms over the towers 72 levels featuring beautiful views to all points of the compass and in excess of 2,000 sqm. of integrated commercial space located at ground level. The lower levels of the proposed development will provide secure car parking for residents and retail tenants.
